I’m live at The Home Course for the 38th and final US Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. The 64 player match play field was set yesterday with Eun Jeong Seong of South Korea taking the medalist honors after a WAPL record setting -8 64.
I’ll be providing updates from the course until the 12:42 tee time, where I’ll be following the Caroline Inglis (Eugene, OR) match.
12:48 – Seong does it! Coming back from 4 down through 9 holes, she sunk a 30 footer to force extras and finished Gotcher on the first playoff hole!
12:25 – Wow! Seong and Gotcher are headed to extras. Both find the fairway on the 1st.
11:58 – Seong is now all square with Gotcher, who is staring a rather tough collapse in the face. Monica Vaughn is about to close out Zhou, as she’s up 5 with 5 to play.
11:10 – Seong has battled back and is now 2 down heading to 13. Mercer Island’s Jacqueline Bendrick is 1 up on Alana Uriell through 6 holes. Silverdale’s Katie Lee is all square with one of the favorites in Annie Park with the pair through 2 holes.
10:30 – Reedsport, OR native Monica Vaughn is still 1 up over Wanasa Zhou after 7 holes. Defending Champion Lauren Diaz-Yi jumped out to an early 2 up lead through 4 on Canadian Robyn Doig.
10:22 – Eun Jeong Seong is now 4 down thru 9 holes to Samantha Gotcher. Gotcher qualified for the US Open at Pinehurst, but missed the cut.
