The Northwest contingent was light this week at the Quicken Loans National in Bethesda, MD, with only 4 players in the field. It was not a bad showing, however as 3 of the 4 made the cut and all 3 finished in the Top-25. Robert Garrigus and Richard H. Lee both finished T-11 after shooting matching 284’s for the week, while Michael Putnam stumbled with a +3 on Sunday to a T24 finish. The nice payday also moves Lee to 127th, and within 2 spots of 125 on the FedEx Cup Points List, which is the end of the year cut line for retaining PGA TOUR privileges for 2015.
Gig Harbor’s Kyle Stanley continued to struggle continued as he missed the cut for the 11th time this year.
The Web.com Tour United Leasing Championship turned into a horror show for the Northwest golfers in the event, with only 1 of 6 making the cut. Scott Harrington of Portland was that player, but his modest -3 285 only netted him a tie for 15th. The win does move Harrington up 14 spots on the Web.Com Tour Money List from 85th to 71st, which could prove important in earning him a spot at his hometown Winco Foods PDX Open this August.
Andres Gonzales, Jeff Gove, Joel Dahmen, Andrew Putnam and Nick Taylor were the players who failed to make the cut.
