Portland’s Ben Crane is leading in Memphis after a -5 65 in the rain shortened FedEx St. Jude Classic. Crane’s 65 comes on the heels of a -7 63 which also gave him the first round lead after storms interrupted play on Thursday, as well.
It’s been a rocky year for Crane as he’s made only 10 cuts in 16 events and his highest finish was a T-9 Humana Challenge in January. Crane barely retained his TOUR privileges last year after finishing in 125th position in the FedEx Cup points list, which put him squarely on the bubble as only the top 125 players are granted a TOUR card for the following season. Crane, who has 4 wins in his career, last won the 2011 McGladrey Classic in a playoff over Webb Simpson.
The FedEx St. Jude Classic will resume Saturday morning after the players complete the weather delayed second round.
